Wall covering
Panel the room with simple 2x1 timber. Paint the walls in a base colour of baby blue. |

Stencils
In the childrens area, finish the walls with a stencil in a darker blue colour. Paint all the woodwork pale cream. |

Light boxes
Create six light boxes and mount on the right hand wall of the adult area. Transfer beach photos onto acetate, and light these from behind using strip lights. |

Soft furnishings
Give a sofa a whole new look by simply dying the covers lilac. Make cushion covers from pairs of charity shop jeans. Use the same fabric to upholster a chair. Add touches of red cotton to other furnishings for a bright splash of colour. |

|
Chimneybreast
Roughly paint any exposed brick on the chimneybreast with a mixture of woodwork paint and scumble glaze to give it a glazed look. |

Ammonites
Use plaster cast ammonites throughout the room as dressings. For a new look coffee table, pour a strong plaster mix using alginate and plaster of Paris onto the top of a table, and set the ammonites into the plaster. |
