Paint and stencil your walls
Paint and stencil your walls
Paint your walls and ceiling white. Design an intricately patterned stencil and transfer this design onto acetate. Then place on the wall and spray with pearlescent paint. Repeat around the room. This is a long and laborious process but is well worth it.
Make your room feel taller
Make your room feel taller
Choose an area of the room that youd like to accentuate such as a redundant chimneybreast. Then run wood panelling vertically up the space. This will enhance the art deco theme and make your room feel taller.
Bring the outside in with a balconette
Bring the outside in with a balconette
Why not replace your window with French doors leading to a balconette? This will help bring the outdoors into your room, without having the hassle of a full balcony. Use a restrained design for the railing, like a minimalist twist on the modern railing.
Sumptuous silk curtains
Sumptuous silk curtains
Use a glass effect curtain pole and rings with a beautiful silk organza to soften the window and balcony. Use a transparent material, which allows light through and catches the light. Trim the leading edge and bottom of the curtain with crystal beads.
Use mulberry coloured fabric to brighten the room
Use mulberry coloured fabric to brighten the room
Use a richly coloured and heavily textured fabric to cover the bed. The look and feel of the bedspread will contrast with the clean smooth white of the walls.
Turn your radiator into a design feature
Turn your radiator into a design feature
Consider investing in a designer radiator. This will not only keep your room nice and warm, but will also look like a piece of art.
Add a hand painted oil painting
Add a hand painted oil painting
A bright oil painting above the bed adds glamour and colour to the room and enhances the romantic theme. This one was hand painted by Laurence, but similar themes can be found on the high street.
Add splashes of colour and crystal effect
Accessorise and accentuate the room
Hang a crystal bead curtain to one side of the bed, which will reflect the crystals found in the silk curtain. Paint the inside of your wardrobe in bright reds and pinks. This will pick up the colour of the bedspread.
